They have everything
The day before yesterday we went driving around the countryside, visiting the town of Tomohon and lake Tondano. While driving around, we drove past lots of areas where stuff is grown, such as cloves, coconuts, rice, and corn. For city folk like us, it's quite extraordinary to visit someone's house and sit underneath a mango tree, or pluck bananas in the back yard. One of the farms we drove past though, had just about everything: coffee, tea, cloves, cocoa, corn, and bananas. It's just there and grows. Pretty cool stuff.
Drying out cloves
Ten kilograms of cloves are sold by the farmer for 7USD.
Rice fields
The rice fields near Tomohon are located next to volcanoes "Lokon" and "Mahao", both active volcanoes.
