Made of red, hot chili peppers
Yes, that red hot stuff that Indonesian folks like so much with their food is made from these. 'Rawit', as my parents used to call it. My Dad loved to eat them whole, and - good daughter that I am - I once mimicked his behavior and stuck one in my mouth, whole. At the age of three. Needless to say that was the best lesson ever, for me to stay away from the stuff as a child. Ouch.
