Family dinner

Makan terus
Manadonese people are known for their capacity to eat, so it's no wonder that last night's family dinner included thirty people and food for 300 people. I suffer from the same food obsession whenever I need to throw a party, so it felt very familiar. "Makan terus" means "Non-stop eating", and that's simply what you do. When in Rome, do as the Romans. So last night we were taken out to dinner by my cousin and her husband at the Manado city harbor, and dear me. I don't think the word 'rice table' fits the bill as an adequate description of the mounds and mounds of food on the table. We had so much food that we could have hosted the other restaurant guests as well.

Karaoke
Plus, my family loves to sing. So there was no escaping picking up the mike and singing along with my brother-in-law. No words can be found to describe the sounds we were producing, but at least all of us had a good laugh.
